Description
Specificity:
Mouse Anti-Human CD11a (Clone 38) recognizes Human CD11a. This monoclonal antibody was purified using multi-step affinity chromatography methods such as Protein A or G depending on the species and isotype. Anti-Human CD11a (Anti-LFA-1a) recognizes the (Mr 175 kDa) a chain of the leukocyte function associated antigen-1 (LFA-1). The leukocyte integrin LFA-1 is a member of the family of heterodimeric receptors that mediate divalent cation-dependent cellular adhesion reactions.1 LFA-1α binds to domain 1 of an intercellular adhesion molecule (ICAM) on target tissues.

Antigen Distribution:
The CD11a antigen is present on most leukocytes and plays a vital role in cellular immune responses which require adhesion. Lymphocyte activation via the T-cell antigen receptor (TCR) up-regulates LFA-1 function. The absence of LFA-1α or ß may induce the disease state known as leukocyte adhesion deficiency (LAD). Tumor cells which do not express LFA-1 may have avoided cellular immune-responses such as those carried out by natural killer cells (NK).

Background:
Anti-CD11a may be used to study a variety of biological phenomena related to the function of cell adhesion molecules. This antibody may be used to study transplantation rejections and to assist in characterizing lymphomas and leukemias.

Reporter Molecule:
R-phycoerythrin (R-PE) has a molecular weight of 240 kDa and is purified from red algae. R-PE is an intensely bright phycobiliprotein with an absorption maxima at approximately 496, 546 and 565 nm, and a fluorescence emission maximum of ~578 nm.

Formulation
This R-phycoerythrin (R-PE) conjugate is formulated in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline (PBS) pH 7.4, 150 mM NaCl, 1% BSA and 0.09% sodium azide as a preservative.
Storage and Stability
This R-PE conjugate is stable when stored at 2-8°C. Do not freeze.
