Description
Specificity:
Mouse Anti-Human CD13 (Clone 22A5) recognizes Human CD13. This monoclonal antibody was purified using multi-step affinity chromatography methods such as Protein A or G depending on the species and isotype. Anti-Human CD13 recognizes the (Mr 150-170 kDa) cell surface glycoprotein expressed in a pan-myeloid fashion. This antibody also reacts with osteoclasts in giant cell tumors of bone (osteoclastoma), clear cell chondrosarcoma and aneurysmal bone cysts.1

Antigen Distribution:
The CD13 antigen is present on most cells of myeloid origin, including granulocytes and monocytes in normal peripheral blood. CD13 is not expressed on B-cells, T-cells, platelets or erythrocytes. Expression of this antigen is greater on monocytes than on granulocytes.

Background:
Anti-Human CD13 can be used to study myeloid cell functions as well as to immunophenotype leukemias. CD13 is present on basophils from subjects with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and on granulocytes from subjects with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

Reporter Molecule:
R-phycoerythrin (R-PE) has a molecular weight of 240 kDa and is purified from red algae. R-PE is an intensely bright phycobiliprotein with an absorption maxima at approximately 496, 546 and 565 nm, and a fluorescence emission maximum of ~578 nm.

Formulation
This R-phycoerythrin (R-PE) conjugate is formulated in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline (PBS) pH 7.4, 150 mM NaCl, 1% BSA and 0.09% sodium azide as a preservative.
Storage and Stability
This R-PE conjugate is stable when stored at 2-8°C. Do not freeze.
Reported Applications

Flow Cytometry: This antibody can be used at a concentration of ≤ 20 µ1 per 100 µl of whole blood (or per 1.0 x 106 cells in a 100 µl total staining volume).
Each investigator should determine their own optimal working dilution for specific applications.
