Description

Specificity
Mouse Anti-Human Caspase-3 Active Subunit (p17) (CASP3) (Clone C31.129) recognizes an epitope on Human CASP3. This monoclonal antibody was purified using multi-step affinity chromatography methods such as Protein A or G depending on the species and isotype.
Background
Caspase-3 is a member of the caspase family of cysteine proteases and plays a key role in mediating Fas (CD95) and tumor necrosis factor–1 (TNFR-1) induced apoptosis. Caspases can be divided into three groups: apoptotic initiators, apoptotic executioners, and inflammatory mediators.1,2 Caspase-3 is activated during apoptotic signaling events by upstream proteases including caspase 6 and caspase 8.3 Caspase-3 is thought to be essential for chromatin margination, DNA fragmentation and nuclear collapse during apoptosis.3
