Description
Specificity:
Anti-Syntaxin (Clone HPC-1)recognizes a (Mr 35 kD) polypeptide on the cell membrane of amacrine cells.1 In hippocampus, this antibody recognizes the stratum radiatum, the layer formed by the fibers of dentate granule cells. This monoclonal antibody was purified using multi-step affinity chromatography methods such as Protein A or G depending on the species and isotype.

Background:
Syntaxins (syntaxin isotypes 1-4) are membrane integrated Q-SNARE proteins participating in exocytosis. Syntaxins bind synaptotagmin in a calcium-dependent fashion and interact with voltage dependent calcium and potassium channels via the C-terminal H3 domain. Direct syntaxin-channel interaction is a suitable molecular mechanism for proximity between the fusion machinery and the gates of Ca2 + entry during depolarization of the presynaptic axonal boutons.

Formulation
This purified antibody is formulated in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline (PBS) pH 7.4, 150 mM NaCl, 1% BSA and 0.09% sodium azide as a preservative.
Storage and Stability
This antibody is stable for at least one week when stored at 2-8°C. For long term storage, aliquot in working volumes without diluting and store at – 20°C in a manual defrost freezer. Avoid Repeated Freeze Thaw Cycles.
