Description
Specificity:
Mouse Anti-Human CD4 recognizes Human CD4. This monoclonal antibody was purified using multi-step affinity chromatography methods such as Protein A or G depending on the species and isotype. Anti-Human CD4 recognizes a human surface glycoprotein (Mr 55-62 kDa) present on T-helper/inducer lymphocytes and monocytes.1 Anti-CD4 blocks various immunoregulatory functions. There is indirect evidence that CD4 acts as a receptor for the invariant part of HLA Class II antigens. CD4 may also be the receptor for the AIDS virus.2
Antigen Distribution:
The CD4 antigen is present on the helper/inducer subset of T-lymphocytes. CD4 positive cells make up approximately 25-60% of normal peripheral blood lymphoctes and 80-90% of normal thymocytes. CD4 has also been shown to be present in low density on monocytes and intracellularly in monocytes and macrophages.
Background:
CD4 (cluster of differentiation 4) is a glycoprotein expressed on the surface of T helper cells, regulatory T cells, monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. CD4 interacts with class II molecules of the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) enhancing the signal for T-cell activation.1
Host Species
Mouse
Formulation
This antibody is aseptically packaged and formulated in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline (PBS) pH 7.2, 150 mM NaCl with no carrier protein, potassium or preservatives added.
Storage and Stability
This antibody is stable for at least one week when stored sterile at 2-8°C. For long term storage aseptically aliquot in working volumes without diluting and store at –80°C. Avoid Repeated Freeze Thaw Cycles.
