Description
Background:
Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) is a glycoprotein gonadotropin secreted by the anterior pituitary in response to gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), which is released by the hypothalamus. FSH is fundamental for Sertoli cell function stimulating spermatogenesis and follicular growth by a specific receptor.1 FSH helps the production of eggs by the ovaries and controls the production of sperm.2 FSH may play an important role in bone mass regulation in postmenopausal women.3
