Description

Background
Theophylline, also known as 1,3-dimethylxanthine, is a methylxanthine drug used in therapy for respiratory diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. As a member of the xanthine family, it bears structural and pharmacological similarity to theobromine and caffeine. A small amount of theophylline is one of the products of caffeine processing in the liver.
Immunogen
Theophylline conjugated to KLH.
Specificity
These antibodies recognize theophylline and cross-react to different degrees with caffeine: 16201 (~25%) > 16203 > 16205 > 16204 > 16202 (~2%). Not determined for 16206-16209.
Product Preparation
Antibodies are purified by a multi-step process including the use of protein A or G to assure extremely low levels of endotoxins, leachable protein A or aggregates.
