Product DetailsDescription Toxoplasma gondii is an obligate intracellular, parasitic protozoan that causes toxoplasmosis. Found worldwide, T. gondii is capable of infecting virtually all warm-blooded animals, but felines such as domestic cats are the only known hosts in which the parasite can undergo sexual reproduction. Although mild, flu-like symptoms occasionally occur during the first few weeks following exposure, infection with T. gondii usually produces no readily observable symptoms in healthy human adults. However, in infants, HIV/AIDS patients, and others with weakened immunity, infection can cause serious and occasionally fatal toxoplasmosis. Recombinant antigens of T. gondii (including 4 different phase-specific avidity antigens) are used in the recomLine Toxoplasma assays. Research Use Only. For Sale In the United States Only.
