Description

Description

Specificity
Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody specific to GLUT10
Background
Non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) is a multifactoral disease with both environmental and genetic causes. Genome-wide screening has identified several susceptibility loci for NIDDM within the human genome. Most mammalian cells transport glucose through a family of membrane proteins known as glucose transporters (GLUT or SLC2A family). The gene for GLUT10, localized to human chromosome 20q12-q13.1, is a candidate gene for NIDDM susceptibility. It is widely expressed, with highest levels in liver and pancreas.
Function
Facilitative glucose transporter required for the development of the cardiovascular system. {PubMed:11592815, PubMed:16550171}.
