This monoclonal antibody was purified using multi-step affinity chromatography methods such as Protein A or G depending on the species and isotype. The antibody is specific to the human antigen E-selectin (ELAM-1, 115 kDa) that is expressed on activated endothelial cells. The ligand is expressed on neutrophils and may function as an early part in neutrophil binding to the endothelium. Background CD62E, also known as E-Selectin, is a type I membrane glycoprotein that belongs to the selectin family of surface molecules which is activated by cytokines and mediates the binding of leukocytes. Like other selectins, it plays an important part in inflammation. During inflammation, E-selectin plays an important part in recruiting leukocytes to the site of injury.
