DescriptionDescriptionSpecificity Recombinant Bee Venom Phospholipase A2 Background Bee venom phospholipase A2 (BV-PLA2) is the primary allergen in bee venom. It is a hydrolytic enzyme which cleaves the sn-2-acyl bond of phospholipids at the lipid/water interface. BV-PLA2 is a 14-16kDa glycoprotein consisting of 134 amino acids with a single carbohydrate side chain at residue Asn13. BV-PLA2 displays 3 peptide T-cell epitopes and 1 glycopeptide T-cell epitope which are recognized by allergic and non-allergic bee venom-sensitized individuals. BV-PLA2 elicits IgE-mediated allergic responses in allergic individuals. References & CitationsTechnical ProtocolsCertificate of Analysis |
