DescriptionBackground Normal Sheep IgG, whole molecule, is purified from normal sheep serum using protein G chromatography. IgG is produced and secreted by plasma B cells and is the predominant immunoglobulin isotype in serum, playing a central role in humoral immunity. Each intact IgG molecule contains both the Fc region, which interacts with Fc receptor proteins, and the Fab regions that mediate specific antigen recognition, providing two antigen-binding sites per antibody molecule. Sheep IgG binds a wide range of antigens, including viral, bacterial, and parasitic components, facilitating immune defense through complement activation, agglutination, and opsonization for phagocytic clearance. This preparation contains sufficient endogenous sheep IgG to effectively block nonspecific binding sites on fixed samples and assay surfaces. It is optimized for use in flow cytometry and is also suitable for applications such as ELISA, IHC, ICC, blocking, and as an isotype or negative control. References & Citations |
