DescriptionDescriptionSpecificity Anti-Human Caspase-8 Active Subunit (p18) (clone C81.349) recognizes the human 18-20 kDa cleaved active subunit of caspase 8 and does not react with the inactive proenzyme. The antibody was developed using a synthetic peptide with residues mapping to the N-terminus of the (p18) subunit of human caspase 8. Background Caspase-8 is a member of the caspase family of cysteine proteases and plays a key role in mediating Fas (CD95) and tumor necrosis factor–1 (TNFR-1) induced apoptosis. Activation of caspase 8 by proteolytic cleavage leads to the release of the active p18 and p10 subunits. These processed subunits associate to form an active enzyme. Research Area Apoptosis .
