Description

Description

Specificity
SAIC-26C-15H2/L15 activity is directed against human NFKB2 peptide sequence IEVDLVTHSDPPR.
CPTC Clone ID
CPTC-NFKB2-1
Background
NFKB2 is a member of the Rel/NF-κB transcription factor family1, which consists of five monomers that act as homo- and heterodimers involved in the transcriptional activation and repression of hundreds of genes and plays important roles in inflammation, cell physiology2, and the immune system1. NFKB2 encodes p52, which is synthesized as a large precursor protein (p100) that is processed by proteosome-mediated proteolysis to the mature, DNA-binding p52 peptide3. Truncations and chromosomal fusions in the NFKB2 gene are present in a number of B and T cell lymphomas as well as myelomas2,3. Aberrant peptides resulting from these mutations abolish the inhibitory function of p52, leading to constitutive DNA binding activity and malignancy2. The precursor p100 protein also fulfills important biological functions by acting as an inhibitor of most other members of the NF-κB family.

SAIC-26C-15H2/L15 was generated in rabbit for use in immuno-MRM assays using a synthetic peptide derived from human NFKB2, IEVDLVTHSDPPR4. SAIC-26C-15H2/L15 can also detect NFKB2 in indirect ELISA assays5. SAIC-26C-15H2/L15 does not detect NFKB2 by immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, or Western blotting.
Antigen Distribution
NFKB2 is a subunit of the NFkB transcription factor complex present in almost all cell types.
