Description

Specificity
Mouse Anti-Human p34cdc2 Serine/Threonine Kinase (Clone 17) recognizes an epitope on Human p34cdc2 Serine/Threonine Kinase. This monoclonal antibody was purified using multi-step affinity chromatography methods such as Protein A or G depending on the species and isotype.
Background
p34cdc2 is thought to be activated by cyclin through dephosphorylation at tyrosine residues. Activated p34cdc2 kinase is involved in a number of mitotic events such as nuclear envelope breakdown and chromosome condensation through phosphorylation of serine/threonine residues of substrates such as nuclear lamins, histones, pp60c-src, nucleolin and RNA polymerase II. It is then inactivated by a tyrosine kinase. Anti-p34cdc2 can be used in western blotting, immunoprecipitation and immunohistochemistry. The antibody precipitates an active kinase.
