Immunohistochemistry: use at 1-5ug/mL. These are recommended concentrations. Enduser should determine optimal concentrations for their applications. Positive control: Rat neocortical neurons cultured under amino acid starvation conditions. Each investigator should determine their own optimal working dilution for specific applications. See directions on lot specific datasheets, as information may periodically change. DescriptionDescriptionSpecificity This antibody recognizes human, mouse,
and rat SNAT1. Background The sodium-coupled neutral amino acid transporters (SNAT) include System A subtypes SNAT1, SNAT2, and SNAT4 and System N subtypes SNAT3 and SNAT5. These transporters are essential for uptake of nutrients, energy production, metabolism, detoxification, and the cycling of neurotransmitters. SNAT1 is responsible for transport of glutamine and may be involved in the generation of glutamate in the retina. SNAT1 is found in heart, brain, and placenta, and expression levels are high in certain neuronal populations in the central nervous system. Function Functions as a sodium-dependent amino acid transporter. Mediates the saturable, pH-sensitive and electrogenic cotransport of glutamine and sodium ions with a stoichiometry of 1:1. May also transport small zwitterionic and aliphatic amino acids with a lower affinity. May supply glutamatergic and GABAergic neurons with glutamine which is required for the synthesis of the neurotransmitters glutamate and GABA. {PubMed:10660562, PubMed:11692272, PubMed:11756489, PubMed:12684517}.
