Specificity
Rabbit Anti-Human Interleukin-21 Receptor (IL-21R) recognizes an epitope in the extracellular domain of Human, Mouse and Rat IL-21R. This polyclonal antibody was purified using affinity chromatography.
Background
Interleukin 21 receptor (IL-21R) is a novel member of the class-I-cytokine-receptor family and is selectively expressed in lymphoid tissues. IL21R shows strong sequence homologies to the interleukin-4 receptor alpha chain gene (IL4RA).1 IL-21R is an important amplifier of alternative macrophage activation. Collectively, these results illustrate an essential function for the IL-21R in the development of pathogen-induced Th2 responses, which may have relevance in therapies for both inflammatory and chronic fibrotic diseases.2 IL-21/IL-21R system may represent a new target for the treatment of Adult T-cell leukaemia (ATL).3
