Processing and Preparation - All FBS Lots are manufactured under USA requirement for animal products. Adheres to a closed-system collection. Purified by triple 0.1 μm filtration in HEPA filtered and certified working cleanrooms.

Virus, Biochemical, and Chemical Testing - Premium Select FBS is tested for adventitious viruses such as Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus (BVDV), Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis Virus (IBRV), Parainfluenza-3 Virus (PI-3V), Bluetongue Virus (BTV), Bovine Respiratory Syncytial Virus (BRSV), Bovine Parvovirus (BPV), Bovine Adenovirus, Type 3 (BAV-3), Bovine Adenovirus, Type 5 (BAV-5), Reo virus, and Rabies virus.

Premium Select FBS receives biochemical testing such as total protein, albumin, globulin, IgG, total bilirubin, glucose, iron, cholesterol, triglycerides, sodium and potassium.

Premium Select FBS lots are tested for osmolality, pH, hemoglobin, endotoxin (LAL method) and microbiological contamination.

Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS), also known as Fetal Calf Serum (FCS), is an important supplement added to cell culture medium for maintaining cell health, promoting cell expansion, and other general cell culture applications. FBS is harvested from the blood drawn from a bovine fetus. FBS is a large source of proteins, enzymes, carbohydrates, electrolytes, lipids and other components necessary in many cell culture applications to support overall cell growth.
